Amanda Harrington, LPC-I
Amanda Harrington is a Licensed Professional Counselor- Intern specializing in working with children and tweens ages 3-14. Amanda’s passion has always been helping children to be their best self and helping families to grow and function in healthier ways.
Amanda received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wayland Baptist University then returned to her home of Houston to complete her Master of Education in Counseling degree from University of Houston. She has been educated in physiological issues, counseling in schools, family therapy, counseling women and girls, and counseling children. Amanda has worked in the school setting and has experience with group and individual therapy focusing on issues of social skills, focus and attention, anger management, anxiety, emotional regulation, and depression. Amanda has experience with autism, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, bi-polar disorder, sensory processing disorder, and intellectual delays.
Amanda is pursuing the designation of Registered Play Therapist and will utilize play therapy techniques in her sessions. Amanda believes that everyone has the skills and strengths they need to learn, grow, and lead healthy lives and they sometimes just need help realizing or expanding these skills. This belief guides Amanda’s work with children and families. Amanda believes that happy and healthy children and families are the way to better the world and she seeks to live out this belief every day.
