Omolola Taiwo is a nationally certified and licensed professional counselor. She specializes in working with teenagers, adults, and couples. Her areas of expertise include treating teens with parent child conflict and/or behavioral issues, anxiety-igniting thoughts with depressive symptoms, poor stress management, life transitions, trauma, grief/loss, mood disorders related to drug/substance abuse, and school-related concerns including ASD, ADHD, and ADD.
Omolola is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, where she obtained a Bachelors of Psychology in 2013. She is also a graduate of the University of Holy Cross where she obtained her Masters of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017. She has experience in the community and clinical setting dealing with trauma, depression with psychotic features, self-injurious behaviors, and drug/alcohol addictions. She utilizes an integrative approach of cognitive-behavioral interventions and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) with adults and teens. She has formed psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups for teenage through geriatric ages.
After working for the community in Louisiana and Georgia, she decided to move into private practice where she could hone in skills related to long term care for her clients. With Mindfulness-based CBT, she explores the roots of problematic behaviors and patterns, focusing on client strengths and identifying lifestyle factors that affect their current functioning (i.e. life transitions, high levels of stress). She is currently attaining certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
In addition to being a registered behavioral technician, her specialty is utilizing positive psychology and strength based assessments that encourage clients to make therapeutic lifestyle changes. Within a safe and established tone, she motivates her clients to attain their goals and achieve ultimate wellness.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking new recipes, playing with my son, and going on road trips. I also enjoy juicing for health benefits and making my own tea concoctions.
