Stephanie (Annie) Choo is an LPC-Associate, National Certified Counselor, Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Practitioner, Certified Autism Specialist and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist. She specializes in working with children age 4-16, families and adults who, are grieving the loss of a loved one, have experienced or are experiencing trauma or abuse, suffering from anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts or an eating disorder. Her area of expertise also includes working with mothers who are experiencing post-partum depression.
She has years of experience working with children and mothers in a non-profit, Christ-centered setting. Annie works with all spiritualities, but she is also a Christian counseling niche and believes that a relationship with a higher power is the utmost importance in being and reaching ones’ full potential.
Annie has graduated with a Master of Art in Counseling in the top of her class from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. She is working towards earning a Registered Play Therapist designation while utilizing child centered play therapy and sand tray with her children clients.
Annie is trained to understand the neuroscience of childhood trauma, and to administer trauma assessments. Annie also incorporates play therapy in treatment sessions and understands the essential components of Trauma-Informed Treatments. When it comes to offering grief counseling, she is trained to provide body-based treatment composed of emotional and behavioral regulation into play therapy. Annie is trained in Grief theory, understands the circumstances of bereavement and offers appropriate grief counseling treatment approached to her clients. Annie is looking forward to beginning EMDR training in 2022.
In her free time, Annie enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 young children, cooking, reading, traveling and spending time at her meditation/prayer room.
