Didi Martinez is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She is passionate about working with adolescents, adults, families, and couples where she brings a client centered and strength’s-based therapeutic approach. She primarily focuses on working with individuals and families coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, gender and sexual identity issues, grief, and interpersonal violence. She utilizes various modalities such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic theory, solution focused, family systems, Gestalt theory, and mindfulness practice. She is also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI).
Didi is a graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2018. She went on to graduate from the University of Houston in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Didi’s experience includes completing an internship at the Montrose Counseling Center where she gained experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and couples by providing individual and group therapy services. During this time, she also worked for The Houston Area Women’s Center where she provided individual and group counseling services to survivors of human trafficking, domestic, and sexual violence. It was at these two agencies that Didi developed a passion for working with individuals coping with complex trauma, substance abuse, and gender/sexual identity issues from various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Didi has also worked in a residential setting for substance abuse treatment and program coordinating for refugee adolescents. Didi has an interest in learning and being trained in eye movement desensitization and processing (EMDR), relationship and intimacy issues, and play therapy to work with younger children.
In her free time, Didi enjoys rolling skating around her neighborhood, drawing, going to concerts, traveling to various countries, playing video games, going to restaurants, and spending quiet time with her two cats.
