About Me
Aleksandra Guerra is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She believes in the power of human connection and feels every person deserves the opportunity to feel loved, worthy, and a sense of belonging in their lives. She primarily works with adults and adolescents, and specializes in working with mood disorders, anxiety, self-harm, family conflict, neurodivergence, substance use, and the LGBTQIA+ population. She aims to help her clients build an increased awareness of themselves, others, and the environments they survive and thrive in. She believes therapy can take many forms and strives to respect where each client is at on their journey, allowing them to guide their own treatment goals.
Aleksandra’s approach with clients is informal yet professional, as she finds it important to take the pressure off the process and make things feel less clinical, and more comfortable. Many people may feel fearful or apprehensive about starting therapy, and she works hard to create a non-judgmental space where clients can feel safe being themselves. She is passionate about attachment theory, and often uses this lens to help clients understand how they have learned to relate to and connect with others. She is also passionate about “bottom-up” therapies that help regulate the nervous system, which can often become activated in times of stress and in response to trauma. She enjoys using body-based and mindfulness-based interventions to help clients learn to regulate and ground themselves in moments of panic, anxiety, or mood swings.
Aleksandra received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from The University of North Texas in 2017. She quickly went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington. Through her time in university, she learned to work with and advocate for various populations such as children and families experiencing hardship and abuse, and adults and adolescents struggling with chronic mental illness. She has practiced in various settings such as non-profit organizations, community mental health, inpatient mental health stabilization, and crisis intervention. She has experience with group and individual therapy models, and enjoys utilizing psychoeducation to help clients understand key mental health factors such as healthy relationships, boundaries, physical health, utilizing support, and safety planning.
In her free time, Aleksandra enjoys spending time with her family and animals, creating and experiencing art and music with friends, composting, and creating bioactive vivariums for her plants and reptiles.
