About Me

Joe Bartolotta is a master’s student in Clinical Social Work at the University of Houston. He primarily works with teens and adults. His approach is multidisciplinary and is interested in finding the right clinical  approach for the needs of his clients at specific points in their therapeutic journey.

He has many years of experience in executive coaching, team facilitation and management consulting for Fortune 500 companies and has spent the last 10 years advising organizations on improving their HR and talent practices. Prior to his experience in the corporate world, Joe was a public school teacher in Houston teaching both middle and high school English. He is currently working on his Masters in Clinical Social Work at the University of Houston and sees this next step in his career as combining the individual impact he was able to make as a teacher and the coaching and advising skills of the corporate world.

Joe has a particular interest in the mental health issues of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and their associated symptoms, and exploring how a client’s surroundings (e.g. relationships, work, school, society) either exacerbate or improve symptomology. He is particularly interested in issues related to school/work stress, relationship conflict, LGBTQ+ identities, and other conflicts between one’s identity and the surrounding world. He is focused on finding the best therapeutic method for each client applying approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic approaches. He plans to continue to pursue a variety of clinical certifications and trainings during his internship with Julia’s Counseling. He looks forward to furthering his certifications towards psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapy, Internal family systems, somatic modalities, and EMDR.

In his free time, Joe enjoys exploring new restaurants in Houston, attempting to cook new recipes, spending as much time outside (when it’s not Texas summer), working out, and watching the latest trending shows with his partner and cat.
