About Me:
I am a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW). I approach mental health from a wholistic perspective. I believe in meeting people where they are and helping them navigate the struggles they’re going through. I recognize that often mental health struggles are a symptom of trauma stress and things that people have gone through. Because of this, I do not believe in pathologizing people, my aim is to humanize their experiences. I believe that by identifying the parts of ourselves that are stuck in the pain of the past and letting those parts know it is ok to let go, we can free ourselves to move more fully into our present lives.
When I began my professional career, I was a lawyer and my experiences in life strongly influenced my work. I practiced criminal defense for almost a decade, but what I was able to do in court only made me want to provide help beyond the courtroom. In 2022 I went back to school and in 2024 I graduated with my Master of Social Work from the University of Houston.
My career as a therapist started in a psychiatric hospital working with teens, adults, and geriatrics. I was part of a team whose goal was to help people stabilize after a mental health crises. I have worked with people who have experienced homelessness, abuse/neglect, trauma, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and grief.
My passions are working with parents of children who have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and people who live with hidden serious mental illness. Parents who may be struggling to adapt to caring for those special children and people who are successful on the surface, but who have a lot going on underneath that they are trying to work with and navigate.
I work with adolescents and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress. My goal is to build a trusting and relationship with clients and help them build happier, healthier lives. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. I am training in internal family systems and ego states, as well as somatic experiencing. I have future plans to receive training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
In my free time, I enjoy reading and working out, but I especially enjoy watching K-dramas and listening to K-pop.
