About Me
Madalyn is a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW). She is working with teens 16+ and adults who are interested in working on depression, anxiety, trauma, developing a fulfilling sexual life, and exploring LGBTQIA+ identities. She takes a person-centered strengths-based approach: believing each person is the expert of their own lives and can utilize their strengths and resources to improve their functioning. She utilizes affirmative counseling techniques to validate experiences and assist identity exploration with clients of the LGBTQIA+ community. She believes it is important to comprehensively understand the complex aspects of a person’s life to get a holistic understanding of an individual's life. This includes understanding how a person’s intersecting identities can shape their experiences and mental health.
Madalyn received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a Clinical Focus in 2025. She currently works full-time at a community mental health agency where she completes mental health triages, intake assessments, and crisis intervention. This has provided years of experience working with individuals with concerns such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation, self-harm, domestic violence, substance use, and homelessness.
Madalyn is trained in modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), LGBTQIA+ affirmative counseling and transition letter writing, relational cultural therapy, Brene Brown’s Shame Resilience model, and motivational interviewing (MI). She is currently in training for EMDR, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, therapy for trauma. She also utilizes a collaborative approach, psycho-education, sex education, mindfulness, and a trauma-informed lens while working with clients. She has future plans to receive training in the Gottman Method to work with couples and work towards her certification as a sex therapist from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists.
In her free time she enjoys reading, going for walks, spending time in nature, making pottery, and going to local markets.
