Savannah Vazquez is a Masters candidate studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She strives to build a strong foundation of trust and understanding with each of her clients throughout the therapeutic process. Savannah works primarily with children, tweens, adolescents and young adults.
Savannah grew up in a military family which allowed her to experience a variety of cultures and environments. She began her mental health experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities while living in Waco, TX during her undergraduate degree. After completing her Bachelor's degree she moved with her now husband to Alabama where she then fell in love with trauma counseling and working with children and adolescents. Her experience working in an inpatient mental health facility led her to what she feels is her calling. She credits the many children she has met along her journey for guiding her to be the clinician she continues to strive to be. She believes that all children should feel heard and seen as individuals regardless of their age or life experiences.
Savannah has a passion for giving voices to those who may feel voiceless. She has a special interest in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression, suicide prevention, the needs of the military family, and the impact of trauma experiences. She also believes that every individual regardless of their experiences, diagnoses, or other similarities to others should be treated as an individual with their own therapeutic needs. This leads her to use a multidisciplinary approach toward her clients as each client will have their own needs for growth and healing. Savannah has experience using cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused treatment, among other approaches.
When she has spare time she uses it to do something creative, read, or fish, but her favorite time is spent with her husband and dog on the couch watching movies or playing video games.
